Family Reports
Section 62G of the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth) empowers the court to order a family consult to prepare a family report addressing such matters as the court deems fit. In preparing the family report, the family consultant is required to ascertain the child’s views and include them in the report.
The process whereby the report is prepared generally involves an interview with the child’s parents, the child and any other members of the relevant households. In addition to the interview, the family consultant may observe how the child interacts with each of the interviewed parties.
